Well its been a great couple of weeks since i last wrote on here, i’ll try my best to remember everything but we done so much…
After opening for the lovely Thea Gilmore in Nantwich Civic Hall and havin the pleasure of my good friend “Snakey” Jake Field join me on harp for the gig, me and Snakey hit the nightlife of Nantwich and ended up in a beer garden jam which was some good fun, then on to a nightclub that can only be described as a strip club with no strippers in it! Then it was back to my friend A B Weaver’s house for more jamming and straight Gin till 5am. Miles Traveled – 167
The next morning came round far too quickly and i was on a train heading for Glasgow to play with Miss PP Arnold as part of her band. She is still an incredible performer and her voice sounds as good as it ever did, the band are real kickin too and we had a great gig at The Ferry, which is actually a Ferry as well as a venue. After the show it was off to Oran Mor for some late drinks and then all back to PP’s room for music and tea till 5am again. Miles Traveled – 415
Up for breakfast at 9 (when its free you wake up no matter how little sleep you’ve had) & a few strong coffees and i was on my way to the train station again, this time on to Newcastle to meet up with my band for a show at The Cluny. They were driving up from London with my friend and Tour manager Tom Cleary. The gig at The Cluny went great, the audience gave us loads and we played some stone blues for them and had a good time doing it. After a bit of post code misunderstanding we ended up in the Travelodge bar with a wedding party and had a pretty good time, had to explain to a few people that i wasn’t Dave Grohl as he probaby wouldn’t be stayin in the Travelodge. Good night tho. Miles Traveled – 567
No such thing as a free breakfast at the Travelodge, or a good nights sleep either so we piled into Frankie & Bennie’s for 2 for 1 breakfast (when you been tourin as long as us you know where to save money) and then it was off to Maryport for an afternoon show. The drive was beautiful across the country and the gig was killin. The place was rammed and we even had the Mayor of Maryport there to see us. Jamie Francis opened for us and he was great, definitely someone to look out for in the future, it was good to see him again. After the gig we needed to make a speedy exit to get back to London at a decent time. As i waved everyone off from the car, Tom turned to me to inform me that the battery was flat. After our audience (including the mayor) tryed to push start us and a very kind man tried to jump start us the AA was called and an hour later we were on our way. Too scared to stop the car incase it wouldn’t start again. Maryport, i’ll never forget you! Miles Traveled – 971
So after 4 gigs and 971 miles i got home and got ready to do it all again the weekend after…
Hope to see you at a show soon, have a look at the gig listings on the right, we’re always playing somewhere…
Much love
Marcus
